Evaluation (Self-Portrait Task)

Image
Evaluation (Self-Portrait Task) My task was to create a self-portrait that could be done in any format (examples; mini video, story or picture). This task overall had a three week deadline. My concept was to create a small 2D animation where I would talk about myself alongside other thoughts such as my hobbies, ideal/dream jobs and my usual routine throughout the day. I would include an animated persona of myself, this went through some debate whether to draw myself or to use my animated counterpart/mascot I occasionally use on my YouTube channel. I did also have the thought of mixing some live action shots via a green screen, though I couldn't think on where to fit it in the idea I had. I chose to use animation/illustrated frames for my video just because it was the style I'm most interested in (both hobby and job wise) and also I felt it was easier to make.  The overall process started with writing down the ideas, this took about a couple of days to at least a week as I wante...

Headshot Research

Image
Headshots or Professional Images can be used in a variety of ways in portfolios; source In this headshot, the person is captured from shoulder to head, he is also smiling in the picture. In the background, it's just a simple, solid, coloured background which is quite vivid rather than the usual 'passport' headshot where most of the time, it tends to be bland and boring due to the expression of the person (usually not smiling/expressing no emotion) and the background choice (which is usually white, navy or black). This also shows how the person is using this to present to clients that he's upbeat and ready to pursue a job. The lighting in the shot is balanced correctly as there is minimal shade to be seen/it doesn't overpower the shot. He is also looking directly into the camera which would be important as it looks more professional as if he wasn't looking at the camera, it would probably draw away any potential client/agencies. The background colour and the pers...

Creative Portfolio Research

1. Rafael Varona (Illustrator, Animator, Art Director) ( https://www.rafaelvarona.com/ ) Through looking around the portfolio, it overall has a simple appearance. The home screen showcases a variety of their works from their illustrations up to their animations, which is great as it gives a quick insight into what style they have, rather than making a showcase of every single work you have created, as that would most likely go on for too long for the client (or anyone else) viewing the portfolio.  A brief description of the person is on top of the portfolio view which is good because it gives a brief insight into who the person is, like who they are and their job titles, along with their place of education and what they worked on specifically.  The portfolio contents are sorted into a gallery view and when clicked on, shows up the image in a higher quality and the person gives it a small caption to describe who they produced the work for and what they did for that client ...
