Case Studies for Business Plan
my notes below
Business overview: Disney Animation is a studio, primarily focusing on creating movies and television for Disney. This includes the creative processes such as writing up ideas for movies (writers or directors) to animators. Top animation studio in the world.
Executive summary:
Disney Animation and even just the main company (Walt Disney Company) as a whole have the mission statement being; The mission of The Walt Disney Company is to entertain, inform and inspire people around the globe through the power of unparalleled storytelling, reflecting the iconic brands, creative minds and innovative technologies that make ours the world’s premier entertainment company.
The studio was founded in October of 1923, in the location of Burbank, California by Walt and Roy Disney, and it was originally named Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio on which it went on to have numerous name changes throughout the years (from Studio, Productions, Feature Animation) to now since 2007, being named what it is now. It was made up so the two brothers could produce animated movies and overtime, a team grew larger (with it starting from 2 people to now over 600 people). Over the years, it created now iconic characters such as Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck to making prominent 2D animated movies which started with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Now in the present, the studio creates more 3D animated movies rather than 2D. The evolution of their business has grown massively as now Disney is found all over the world, from creating theme parks such as Disneyland and Disneyworld to products being found in any store, including even in their own stores named the Disney Stores which were once found across the world but in most areas, have shut as of 2020 due to moving more online and keeping open only key locations (e.g. Disney Store in London).
Their business goal/vision statement overall was; To be one of the world's leading producers and providers of entertainment and information. On which, I would say they have succeeded at achieving.
2. local choice - https://www.lambdafilms.co.uk/
Business overview: A company that focuses on video production and animation for brands and agencies around the world.
Finances: Their work is commissioned by clients, meaning they would have been given money to produce the content they wanted.
Operations and resources: There are currently three areas within the UK that operate (Norwich, Cambridge and London).
Executive summary:
Lambda Films' mission statement is that; We aim high, producing cinematic video and design-led animation. It's short and simple but gets the idea across to consumers on their focus for the company and their branding. Lambda Films was founded in 2009 and in Norwich, England, however it's not stated who made up the company overall. Since then, it's opened up two other branches in UK which was in London and Cambridge with once again Norwich being the main/primary branch, this shows it's has evolved over the years to make their name bigger in the industry along with making their team larger which is good if they get more clients. The company's focus is on high quality video production and animation and it's worked for well known clients such as eBay and BT. The company doesn't seem to have a business goal other than making high-end productions to it's clients.
3. anything - https://www.makeitmove.co.uk/
Staff and management team: According to Linkedin, they have a small team of between 1-10 people with the main lead/staff member being Stephen Ong.
Executive summary:
Make it Move's mission statement or just overall view on themselves is that; We bring ideas to life with animation and motion design for social media, apps, games and broadcast. Make it Move was founded in 2016 and located in Norwich, England. It's ran by the company's creative director, Steven Ong and overall runs with a small team (roughly between 1 to 10 people but this could be more) and their idea was bring the ideas of what clients to live through the art of animation and motion design for advertising. It's previously worked for known clients such as McLaren and McDonalds. It's a steadily growing business through their client's and the work they've produced for them but still small which is most likely down to being reasonably new compared to other companies researched and probably might grow further in the future. Their goal and focus isn't noted anywhere but again, it's most likely the same aim as their mission statement.
