Copland - Scene Recreation Task
Evaluation
The task was to recreate/reimagine a scene from the movie, Cop Land.
The process started with watching the scene while also looking at the script for that scene, after watching the scene we then noted down what we needed for filming, the areas discussed where things such as characters, locations and equipment. After discussing that, moving forward a week and we prepared the filming location by closing off the area we needed to film the scene and we set up the equipment, such as lighting, audio and camera. The overall filming process took about a lesson (or 1 hour and 30 minutes) to complete. Once all the footage and audio was uploaded to a cloud drive, we all were separated into pairs to edit the video together in Adobe Premiere Pro. We took turns doing the editing and whilst doing that, background music was found through the internet in order to add more character to scene rather than just the original audio as it's just people talking. Then once complete, was exported and uploaded to YouTube.
I was really happy with the finished outcome as I liked how it was edited together, I had fun trying out a new method for the title card and was pleased with the result. Filming the scene was also a fun experience and setting up equipment, specifically the audio related, was easier to set up as I got shown how to use it more in depth compared to when we done the short film task where I was less experienced within using it.
For what I felt like I could improve is that, audio was a pain to edit as we encountered the issue where we had two microphones (one, was a boom mic and used for background noise and the other was a lavier mic, it was wireless and used for recording Misha's lines) and the lavier microphone had brought up the issue of the audio becoming loud and crunchy sounding. To solve this, we ended up not using the lavier audio but taking the boom mic audio and tweaking it so it could be heard from both directions and in conclusion, the audio was fine in the finished video but I felt like it could've been better edited together such as removing more of the background noise or making it sound more equal in audio levels.
