My Business Plan
Executive summary
Animystery’s mission statement is; ‘I would build up a team of both non-experience and experienced 2D animators to create content based around clients and independent/original ideas’ meanwhile the vision statement is; ‘To be on top within 2D animation in the UK, creating content for everyone!’. It’s a short statement but effective at getting the main point and objectives for my business. Animystery was founded in 2021 and located remotely, and being made up of staff who are both experienced and inexperienced/interested in learning 2D animation. We focus on creating a creative and fun branding for clients who commission the work from this business while also producing projects that are independently made by the entire team at Animystery, whether that be something small or to short films.
Business overview
Animystery is a local business that produces 2D and experimental animation for both advertising for professional clients/companies and creating our own, independent projects (such as short films) to promote imaginative stories into the spotlight.
Sales and marketing
Sales and marketing for this business would be used through clients commissioning marketing campaigns (such as animated stills or short advertisements), this would both advertise the client and this business based on the work on commonly used social media such as Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
Finances
The business would be funded through client commission work but also through optional donations/subscription services and video monetisation, when uploading our own independent projects. These places would be through social media such as YouTube, Vimeo, Patreon, Instagram or Twitter as these enable money being made from their platforms if by reaching a goal to earn it.
Planning
For the planning, it would first start with a brief being given by a client (where they would’ve submitted through our website), they would give a specific deadline for when this is needed and also payment. We would plan out a script, then storyboard and animate the project. It would then be edited in a video editing software to finish it off and then it would be exported and sent to the client.
For our own projects, we would hold a meeting to discuss any ideas created by staff on whether we make a project or not, once we decided on an idea we all agree with, we would then start creating a script, then creating concept art and storyboarding. Once that is all completed, character reference sheets will be done (to assure characters don’t go off model when animating) and then animators will be given sections to animate, they would work on areas such as rough animation, key frames, in-betweens and clean-up. It would then be all moved into an editing software, where the final touches will be added and then all exported, ready to upload to our desired location.
Staff and management team
At this business, I would have around 5-20 employees. Most of them will need to know how to work with 2D animation and video editing (+ with visual effects) while a small majority of them would be people who are less experienced with animation (or video editing) but willing/interested in learning it in a business environment.
Experienced animators/staff have the choice of working in the building however the option would be open to let them work from home, if only you have the correct and suitable equipment and working environment.
Operations and resources
There is only one operation which would be an area in Norwich, UK. However, it would start off by working remotely with the correct resources. The resources that I would mainly use for the business is; PC’s (with monitor), drawing tablets and Adobe software which are estimated to cost around £1,309 + the Adobe software costing £59 monthly (as it’s a subscription only software).
